We're glad you've found the Amherst Commons.

This space is something like a digital town square, public house, parlor, or agora — for people to say hello, hangout, share ideas, ask for help, or whatever else.

Amherst Commons is a fledgling community. Sawyer Pollard, '24, launched it in February of 2026. By the time you join, it may be an ancient relic, a lively community, or somewhere in between.

If you're thinking of posting something, starting a new topic, or replying to someone: go for it. There's not much of a downside and you may spark some enriching discourse.

I hope that Amherst Commons can serve as a gently undulating and enlivening cove in today's often turbulent and hostile world wide web. It's semi-private, which means it's inaccessible to the general public but visible to the Amherst College community.
